Patti Moreno, AKA Garden Girl, is a woman greenfluencer at her best.
As someone who loves to use my barely green thumb to grow my own veggies, I itch to learn more about being a better gardener in my small urban setting, and to know how to use the foods and herbs I grow, from preserving to making teas, and more. I lack the confidence to DIY a lot of things. For instance, though I know I planted Echinacea, I’m hesitant to harvest it because…what if I do something wrong and poison myself?? Can I eat the almonds from my tree raw, or am I supposed to do something special to them to make them edible? While these fears may seem silly to many gardeners, urban people have them, and many more. We’ve almost been trained that it takes a specialized knowledge to do these things, though it used to be common knowledge around the home. Patti Moreno and others like her remind us of what we can do ourselves, and the many ways in which we can live greener – no matter our urban setting – by relying on our own know-how.
GardenGirlTV is Patti’s way of altering our urban sensibilities from relying on provided food, provided power, provided everything, to relying on ourselves and our earthy knowledge to live sustainably. Using video tutorials, Patti walks viewers through urban and suburban gardening techniques, as well as homemaking techniques. There is a strong sense of confidence and pride that comes with knowing how to do things from scratch and from limited resources, and not depending on the corner store for everything. GardenGirlTV helps people gain this confidence, and green up our planet at the same time through urban sustainability.
From the website: …a website dedicated to informing and educating the world on methods for Urban Sustainable Living. I have created a series of how-to videos and web pages that you can view here. With one hundred hours of video tape, I’ll be releasing new videos weekly. My goals are to help you produce more and consume less in ways that will make you and your family live a more healthy lifestyle by eating an organic diet, save money by growing your own organic produce, and bring up the net worth of your most valuable asset, your home.
If you’re an urban dweller looking to green up your life and surroundings, GardenGirlTV is a great place to visit.
