Why not trains?

By using mass transit with the technology we already have, it can be a good thing for the environment and cut down on the pollution. The EuRail model is a great model to choose from for the expansion of mass transit with trains.

Regionally in the United States with the expansion of the Rail Runner in New Mexico that will be going from Albuquerque to Santa Fe, it is a very good idea connecting nearby cities to each other with mid-level speed trains.

We could do this here in Colorado from Denver to Ft. Collins and Colorado Springs. We could have stops at Loveland/Greeley intersection of I-25 before going west to Ft. Collins and going South we could have a stop in Castle Rock before heading down to Colorado Springs. The Hub would be Union Station in Denver.

The reason I am for the use of the mass transportation of trains, subway, light rail and monorail is because I take the Light Rail (TheRide) to work everyday and for other activities downtown. I can see an increase of riders since there has been a oil crunch.

By having a mass transit system that already works for the metro areas and nearby cities we could make future plans to connect major cities with high speed trains. I know we have Amtrak and Greyhound, but this could be a first step to use trains with the technology we have.

In the next 15-20 years, I bet there will be a technology jump to make that kind of technology even cleaner. We could essentially be more European. That would go along ways to help us get off of this oil crutch that we already use too much.

Metro - subways, light rail, commuter rail, street cars

Regional - mid-level speed trains, commuter rail, monorail

Continental - high speed trains connecting major metro areas
